Position Summary

The Research Support Specialist is responsible for day-to-day operations for optimization crystallization services in the National Crystallization Center (NCC), as well as assisting with the high-throughput operations. The NCC is a research facility serving the structural biology community, that focuses on advancing crystallization science and providing researchers access to state-of-the-art experimental methods for generating macromolecular crystals for structure determination. As a member of the National Crystallization Center team, the candidate will work in a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative environment, with opportunities to take initiative and expand your skillset in structural biology.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • Some experience working in a laboratory
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented approach to conducting work and solving problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and ask questions



Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory skills including pipetting, accurate weighing, microscopy, and molecular biology skills
  • Experience with structural biology and knowledge of protein crystallization experimental set-up
  • Familiarity with electronic record keeping and Laboratory Information Management Systems



Physical Demands

  • Time spent standing during laboratory work
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.



Salary Range
$35,000 - $40,000
