The Graduate Admissions Coordinator is responsible for activities related to academic admissions, registration, and orientation for current and potential Chemistry graduate students. Maintain graduate student files, develop GTA schedules, create GTA/GRA offers and contracts. Advise and provide support to graduate students, faculty, and staff. Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and distribute offers/contracts to current and selected incoming graduate students. Hire Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants (paperwork, coordinate with Global, submit eForms).

  • Develop GTA teaching schedules, proctoring schedules, and tutoring center schedules. Create and distribute GTA and Faculty GTA memos, as well as proctoring and tutoring center schedules.

  • Collect Chemistry PhD, Chemistry MS, and Forensic Science MS graduate student application files, distribute them to department admissions committees, schedule applicant interviews, submit application decisions.

  • Support the Graduate Coordinator with maintenance of graduate student files and Graduate Plan of Study pages by making semester updates and submitting course transfers for students with previous graduate coursework from other institutions.

  • Develop marketing materials and lead department graduate student recruitment efforts through the attendance of internal and external recruitment events.

  • Develop and prepare new student orientation packages, schedule and deliver orientation presentations, provide first semester enrollment advisement.

  • Serve as the staff representative on Chemistry Department Graduate Committees; providing program insights and keeping meeting minutes.

  • Other duties as requested by the Department Chair, Graduate Program Coordinator.
