The Department of Physiology and Biophysics is seeking a candidate to serve as a Research Technician I. Projects in Dr. Kuhlman’s research group focus on the development and plasticity of the visual system. State-of-the-art microscopy techniques are applied to study brain activity in awake behaving mice. Behavior is monitored using custom-made small electronics. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing behavioral experiments in mice, managing a medium-sized mouse colony, re-ordering stock supplies, and assisting other team members in their research. Excellent organizational skills, ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn new lab techniques are key.

Specific duties include:
  • Perform research duties (65%)
  • Assist researchers, students, and technicians as needed (20%)
  • Maintain relationships with other departments at the University, such as Laboratory Animal Facilities, Medical Computing, Confocal Microscopy, Instrumentation Center, etc. (5%)
  • Complete purchase orders (10%)
