The Academic Multimedia AV Support Technician is a full-time position reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Multimedia Services and Senior Director of Client Support Services and Learning Technology. This is an on-site position with an established work schedule; however, the position will require the ability to work off hours and weekend as necessary to meet the needs of the position. The Support Technician’s prime function is to provide Audio-Visual technical support for all mediated spaces across campus. They are also expected to be a lead point of contact for all campus activities requiring Audio Visual support in mediated campus spaces.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary contact for event coordination requiring AV beyond the general meeting setup
Support hybrid and in person events in mediated spaces (lecture halls, conference rooms, classrooms, etc.)
Work with non-technical stakeholders in pre-production to explain capabilities of spaces and direct on best practice to ensure all requests are met
Perform equipment setups, breakdowns and troubleshoot issues during events.
Manage the day-to-day housekeeping and maintenance of academic and event spaces
Ensure all equipment is operational prior to events, has been tested, and escalates when there are logistical issues that could impact the event
Operate PTZ cameras, audio mixers, wired/wireless microphones, and Crestron routing systems for large and medium scale events
Provide full event production support including but not limited to forwarding slide decks, video playback, live stream coordination, graphic support, multi camera operation
Classroom and Conference Room Support
Ensure all mediated spaces are maintained in good working order
Presentation/multimedia meeting room support, including duration support
Assist with support web-based conferencing (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc.)
Quick response to emergency/ad-hoc requests
Proactive maintenance/reporting to ensure all AV equipment is always of the highest standard and functioning correctly
Conducting workshops/trainings on AV classroom technology (projection systems, room controls, Smart boards etc.) in coordination with other members of the Division of Information Technology.
Assisting in the administration of various enterprise classroom technologies for video collaboration and lecture streaming
Serve as site point of contact for classroom and events technology related issues
Perform routine in-person preventative maintenance testing and problem diagnosis of fully integrated, state-of-the-art AV/control systems comprising of but not limited to video & audio conferencing, video switching, digital video transport, projection, audio systems, etc.
Bachelor's degree, with at least 3 years of experience working classroom and/or event technology, teaching and learning with technology, or a directly related field; an equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered.
Intermediate to advanced skills in the use of Windows-based and Mac-based platforms including digital video signal processing including display/presentation.
Proficiency with audiovisual technologies including projection systems, audio systems, interactive displays, and audiovisual design and development tools and systems.
Commitment to learning and adapting emerging technologies for support of teaching, learning, collaboration, and events
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong service ethic and customer service skills
The ability to lift between 30-50 pounds.
Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with a sense of urgency concerning project completion and customer satisfaction.
Experience with classroom and conference room technology, Crestron, web-based video conferencing (Zoom, Teams), PTZ cameras (Logitech, Huddly, 1 Beyond, Vaddio), microphone systems (Shure), smartboards, projection systems and displays (Epson, Samsung)
Experience using web conferencing services (e.g. Zoom, Teams, WebEx), media hosting services, unified communications, and similar technologies.
Experience in meeting support (in person/hybrid)
Experience in break-fix classroom support for multimedia and A/V connections for instruction
Active participation in professional organizations and professional development programs relevant to the position.
Avixa CTS certification preferred
