The Office of Vice Provost for International Education (VPIE) is seeking a staff member to serve as a Financial Officer. The Financial Officer is a key member of International Education’s Resource Management team, specializing in international program budget development and financial management.
Position responsibilities will include:
Preparing and administering budgets for units and programs within VPIE, in support of departmental and university goals
Liaising with VPIE department directors and staff, and with representatives of other university units
Working collaboratively with team members to support business operations for all units within the Office of the Vice Provost for International Education
Providing accounting support, including reviewing and authorizing expenditure requests and managing and reconciling accounts
Playing a role in strategic resource planning, analyzing information, and preparing reports

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of directly related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with those from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
A proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Excel, and an ability to learn to use a variety of on-line systems.
An awareness of and/or an ability to learn University at Buffalo policies and procedures that apply to the position duties.
Experience with budget planning, accounting, or in a field related to international education.
Managing a program in a U.S. higher education environment.
