Tufts University Advancement Department has an opening for a Director of Development for the School of Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA).  This position reports into the Senior Director of Development for the School of Arts and Sciences. This Director will oversee a team responsible for supporting fundraising efforts for the SMFA including raising both annual and major gifts, producing the annual Art Sale, and creating fundraising annual appeals.

The Director will:

Collaborate with the Senior Director to assess the potential growth of SMFA fundraising and develop and execute fundraising strategies for the SMFA.

Work with team members to create strategic plans for prospects that maximize the prospects’ giving.

Oversee the annual SMFA Art Sale to ensure the continued success of this fundraising event.

Manage a portfolio and have primary responsibility for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift and leadership annual fund prospective donors.

Collaborate, as appropriate, with colleagues in Gift Planning, the Parents Giving Program, the Annual Fund, and other departments within University Advancement to develop and implement comprehensive cultivation and solicitation strategies.

Plan and implement tailored events to engage donors and prospects in collaboration with special events, alumni engagement, and the Tufts Galleries.

Serve as a fundraising advisor to the Dean of the SMFA at Tufts and work with the Dean of the SMFA to develop fundraising priorities for the SMFA and to engage donors and prospects.

Manage in conjunction with the Director of the Tufts Galleries the Visual Arts Advisory Board, including the recruitment and management of volunteer leaders.

Develop and implement a fundraising marketing and communications plan in collaboration with university communications and marketing.

Work with staff members to manage budgets, guarantee the high-quality stewardship of donors, and ensure the proper processing and acknowledgment of gifts and pledges.
Manage a team providing necessary training and development opportunities and evaluation of their performance
