Position Summary

The School of Dental Medicine (SDMis seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst. This position is responsible for supporting and helping to implement the SDM information analysis, reporting, and decision support strategy in alignment with the SDM academic, service, and research mission. Using a variety of analytic tools, the Business Intelligence Analyst will develop and effectively present useful and insightful information from a variety of data sources that leads to accurate and appropriate interpretation of the data. The Business Intelligence Analyst will:

    • Produce sophisticated and complex reports in support of customer requests.
    • Participate in gathering needs/requests and work with senior leadership for guidance on information strategy, vision, and priorities.
    • Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing customer requests.
    • Develop methodologies and programs for analyzing and presenting data.
    • Assist in evaluating data quality, applications and functions. Identify data quality issues for review and resolution.
    • Identify and evaluate analytical tools and related new technologies; contribute to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation.
    • Provide user support for BI products, including helping users navigate and understand reports.
    • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
    • Serve as a liaison between technical team and the stakeholders.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining a stable, efficient, and high-performing analytic and reporting platform, provide support for analytical tools.

 


This in-person position is in a 24×7 business environment and may require occasional scheduled and unscheduled work during non-business hours, including evenings and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or engineering. A combination of education, specialized training, and experience equivalency will be considered as a substitute for one of the listed disciplines.
  • A minimum of two years of analytic and decision support reporting in a large organization, with expertise in logical and physical data modeling and a solid understanding of Business Intelligence trends.
  • Proficiency in SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience and expertise in design, creation, and delivery of analysis and reporting using enterprise class tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), SQL Server, Tableau, Crystal Reports, or equivalent business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience in reporting in a healthcare field.
  • Experience with semantic web technologies.
  • Proven ability to work across organizational boundaries with competing priorities and perspectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
