What You'll Do

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for managing complex projects around the design, implementation, and enhancement of business analytics and visualization. This position will work directly with stakeholders across the university to help define requirements for and implement data analytics and visualization projects. The Analyst will create professional dashboards for use by diverse stakeholders, including senior University leadership, and help advance key strategic University initiatives by enabling data-driven decision making.

  • Manage and guide business analytics projects at all stages, e.g., gathering requirements, defining KPIs, structuring data sources, and designing dashboards. 
  • Identify business process improvements that can make institutional data more reliable and consistent. Work directly with academic and administrative leadership and staff to implement these improvements, leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Help to continually improve data access to analysts across the university, adhering to data best practices and Data Governance guidance.
  • Provide guidance and support to individuals and groups across the University who are creating dashboards in the University’s Business Intelligence and Data Visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI). 
  • Assist administrative stakeholders in drawing meaningful insights from their data.
  • Provide specifications to Data Engineers for the construction of useable and sustainable data sources.
  • Create and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Respond to incoming work requests related to Data Visualization platform.

 


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience creating dashboards and data visualizations in a business intelligence platform such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience using SQL to prepare data for use. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases. 
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to adhere to data best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly and independently with senior managers.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in related or technical field such as Data Analytics or Statistics.
  • Significant experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization packages.
  • Significant experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with the Denodo Data Virtualization Platform.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with API’s (REST, GraphQL, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
  • Experience working in an academic setting with a variety of source systems.
  • Experience working in a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.


Pay Range

Minimum $94,600.00, Midpoint $118,250.00, Maximum $141,900.00
 

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
