Purpose: To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
Essential Functions:
The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student-athletes in techniques, strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Development.
Conduct position-specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
Foster the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and weaknesses.
Other Duties:
Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
Player eligibility.
Recruiting.
Required Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with quarterbacks.
Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred: Master’s degree.
Experience:
Required: Collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred: Advanced football knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Special Requirements:
Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church. *Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
