The Department of Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to join Dr. Mark Hicar’s research team. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting various research projects within the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid background in molecular biology. Experience in data analysis and programming would be advantageous. This position offers an excellent opportunity for post-bachelor's experience or as a continuation of a research career.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct laboratory experiments according to established protocols.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and culture media.
  • Perform sample processing and antibody or phage isolation techniques.
  • Conduct assays such as plaque assays and ELISA assays.
  • Phage library screening with monoclonal antibodies and plasma.
  • Isolate RNA and perform rt-PCR.
  • Manage sample requests and ordering from various systems.
  • Ship samples to companies and collaborators.
  • Assist with data analysis and interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols.

Funding for this position is assured for three years.
