The Housing Safety Officer will assist in providing a safe living-learning environment for the students residing in all residence hall facilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform security checks of residential facilities and identify potential safety hazards
- Enforce Housing policies
- Support their Residential Life staff during the assigned shift when requested or special needs arise
- Patrol surrounding parking areas to help ensure the safety of students, staff and guests going to and from their vehicles
- Secure residents’ doors and provide lock-out assistance
- Conduct preliminary investigation in collaboration with the Alcorn State Police Department
- Request proper identification on everyone entering our Resident Hall facilities
- Make reports to Residential Life management staff on security violations
- Report all suspicious activity to the Residential Life management staff
- Provide written reports when required
