Overview

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Business Analyst position within the Information Technology Services department. The position is responsible for managing and administering the enterprise-computing environment, including applications and related software tools, and other high-level technical matters associated with enterprise applications. Primary responsibilities include the management of Microsoft Windows servers, applications, and Desktops and advanced troubleshooting.Perform enterprise level desktop, server management, and third tier technical support duties including:Managing the fleet of Windows computers utilizing SCCM, WSUS, Intune and PowerShellCreate, modify, implement and inventory desktop images for Fac/Staff and lab machinesCreate and push software updates and critical OS updatesPC software package creation and deployment utilizing SCCMWork collaboratively with other ITS teams in diagnosing and resolving technical issuesTier 3 Server and Desktop computing troubleshootingOffice 365 back end administratorWriting and managing PowerShell scriptSet-up and maintain enterprise level systems (e.g. printing, computer patching, software package creation, utilization reporting, and maintenance systems, etc.) Remain current with and use ITS services and procedures for designated systems of record for ticket reporting, data and documentation tools, installation & inventory, ITS Communication guidelines, customer communication, technology trends and other duties as assigned.Remain current with technology trends (work with vendors, read trade journals, attend training, research, etc.)Mentor student employees who assist the System Specialist in providing supportThis is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or a closely related field. Two years of professional level experience providing information systems customer support.Experience to include knowledge of SCCM, WSUS, software package creation, PowerShell Scripting, and Office 365 administration, and Microsoft Intune. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

Preferred qualifications: Computer Science or Engineering degree

Knowledge of: Basic understanding of enterprise level firewall, security, and networking fundamentals
Installation and maintenance of complex operating systems software
Principles and techniques of hardware, software operation and troubleshooting
Communications and database security and appropriate programming languages
Ability and willingness to learn new skills rapidly with little supervision
Systems analysis and design procedures and techniques
Research skills utilizing Internet resources
Hardware and software applications used in a large scale computer environment
Principles and practices of systems documentation
Job planning, prioritizing and scheduling techniquesStrong communication and record keeping principles and practices
Principles of technical report preparation, including computer research and analysis techniques
Systems software and applications programming languages
Techniques for dealing with employees, vendors and others, in person, in email, and over the telephone
Principles and techniques of preparing effective written educational and systems documents
Skills in: Training others in policies and procedures related to the work
Analyzing complex software implementation and maintenance procedures
Utilizing system performance tools to determine hardware, software, communications performance levels and making necessary adjustments
Instructing others in the use of new or revised computer applications, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical users
Developing effective work teams and motivating individuals to meet goals and objectives and provide customer services in the most cost effective and efficient manner
Strong Customer Service attitude
Using various methods, procedures, techniques and programming languages used in implementing, maintaining and fine-tuning hardware, software, communications and data bases
Highly developed, methodical problem-solving skills Ability to proactively recognize and communicate potential issues or concerns regarding the performance and security of enterprise systems
Exercising sound independent decisions within established procedural guidelines; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials
Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work
Strong problem solving skills
